Quarries
Marston provides professional engineering and geological services to the quarry industry. Marston assists proposed and active quarry operations in exploration, quarry design and planning, equipment selection, and cost analysis.
We Support from the Ground Up
Marston provides comprehensive exploration program support including:
- Exploration plan
- Drilling supervision
- Core logging
- Splitting and sampling of core for lab quality analysis
- Geological and geophysical log analysis
We Model the Potential
Using drilling data in conjunction with site restrictions and property boundaries, Marston provides geological modeling to estimate the potential resources and reserves. From this base information, Marston will then design the quarry in a manner that considers set-back parameters, wall angles, bench heights, road widths and grade, drainage, regulatory issues, environmental restrictions, and, safety.
We Plan the Process
Marston also provides short- and long-term mine planning supporting the design. This includes equipment selection regarding blasting, loading, haulage, and crushing and processing. Consideration and adherence to product quality requirements is critical to the planning process. (This may include anywhere from one to dozens of products. Marston will also provide optimal locations for the crusher and waste dumps, focusing on access, throughout the life of the quarry.
Marston will provide final reclamation requirements in the case of life-of-mine plans and mining cost analysis on an annual or specified period basis.
We Enable Transition
Marston has provided these services for conventional surface operations as well as developing plans for transitioning from a surface quarry operation into a room-and-pillar underground operation.
