Newmont Mining Corporation

Phoenix Mine Pre-Feasibility Study

Nevada, United States

Challenge:  Newmont reopened a complex low grade copper-gold mine near Battle Mountain, Nevada.

Solution:  Marston developed a plan for new internal phases with access to three separate pits and optimized costs for Newmont’s Pre-Feasibility Study.  The mine is currently in operation.

Resource/Reserve Audits

Russia

Challenge:  Mechel needed a cost effective yet accurate method to determine if resource and reserve estimates developed using Russian standards could be applied to U.S. SEC and Australasian JORC standards with only minimal electronic information available.

Solution:  Marston combined its expert knowledge of Russian classifications and U.S. SEC and Australasian JORC standards to cost effectively validate the estimates.
