Marston’s Latin American mining experience spans the full spectrum of our services, ranging from grassroots exploration, through feasibility studies as well as on site mine engineering, operational and logistics support. 

Commodities include precious metals, base metals, industrial minerals and coal, employing both open-pit and underground mining methods.  Variations in project climatic conditions, altitude and remoteness reflect the inherent diversity encountered in Latin America.

Marston has also developed and reviewed coal supply plans for several existing and proposed IPPs and other power plants throughout Latin America.

By utilizing Spanish speaking technical staff, Marston can facilitate the execution of these projects.

Rio Novo Gold, Inc.

Technical Report and Audit

Guarantã Gold Project & Almas Gold Project

Challenge:  Rio Novo had an extremely aggressive timeframe to list the company stock on the Toronto Stock Exchange and needed resource and reserve studies on multiple properties.

Solution:  Marston was able to complete and issue updated NI 43-101 technical reports for the properties within six weeks of the start-up of the project.  Marston also provided additional support in the successful listing of Rio Novo on the Toronto exchange.  The technical reports completed by Marston are publicly available on SEDAR.

Challenge:  Gold Reserve needed to balance the gold and copper grades in the mill feed and the waste production by type in the mine production scheduling.

Solution:  Marston developed detailed block models of the ore and waste types and then developed phases that allowed these to be balanced.

 

Newmont Gold Corporation

Minera Yanacocha Pit Design

Cajamarca, Peru

Challenge:  Newmont required assistance with mine planning and general mine engineering support for its Yanacocha gold mine in Peru.

Solution:  Marston provided detailed pit design and sensitivity analysis, recommendations for optimization of mine equipment fleets, and equipment cost analysis and forecasting.
