North American clients frequently use Marston for our core mining engineering and geology capabilities. Project work typically entails consulting assignments in coal, metals and industrial minerals along with significant work in oil sands. Marston is also recognized as one of the leaders in North America in Coal Supply Consulting.
Marston has completed hundreds of coal projects in North America including scoping studies, preliminary economic assessments, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies. Our experience includes work with both open-pit and underground operations. Marston’s mining engineers and geologist collectively have hundreds of years of coal experience in North America and have worked in all of the major coal fields in both the United States and Canada. Marston’s work in coal in North America in addition to supporting mining companies also includes significant activities with banks, law firms, and government agencies. All four of Marston’s North American offices are actively involved with coal consulting.
Metals and industrial minerals represent another important area where Marston has been supporting our clients for over three decades in North America. Project work includes mining engineering and geology support for numerous gold, copper, iron ore, limestone, phosphate rock, gypsum, and cement operations. Activities range from support of grass roots exploration up to and including full-scale operations management. Marston’s metals and industrial mineral work is typically handled from our headquarters in St Louis or from our office in Denver.
Marston has actively worked for more than a decade with the major oil sands producers in Alberta. Work is typically managed from our Calgary office with oil sands projects that include mine planning, tailings and material handling engineering, and economic assessments.
Marston works directly with many electric utility clients assisting them with coal supply issues including contract administration, quality reviews, and audits. Our extensive knowledge of coal provides Marston engineers with the experience needed to manage fuel supply agreements.
