As part of a loan restructuring process, Marston was retained to review and value Smoky River Coal Ltd. on behalf of a Senior Secured Noteholders’ Group.

 

Marston performed quarterly reviews of Smoky’s open-pit and underground mining and processing operations as required by the Loan Restructuring Agreement, and provided on-going operations due diligence analyses for Senior Noteholders during the credit protection period.


In addition, Marston performed a detailed valuation study and metallurgical coal market outlook, and developed alternative mining and closure strategies for Smoky’s coal operations.  Marston also developed a detailed Annual Mine Budget as part of a cooperative effort on site with Smoky’s technical staff and executive management.
